Purpose: Fi study di quality a life an burden a care inna glaucoma patients an dem family an fi compare it wid cataract patients.
Methods: Dis was an observational, prospective, cross-sectional study in which 100 glaucoma patients and 50 patients wid age -related cataract as controls, 40 years of age or older did enroll. Patients dem did interview fi get information pan visual disability an vision-specific quality a life using NEI VFQ-25 an pan general quality a life using WHOQoL-BREF. Burden of care of glaucoma was assessed using Family Burden Interview Schedule. Scores a dem three questionnaires yah did tek as main outcome measures.
Results: Scores fi patients wid glaucoma did significantly lower dan dem wid cataract inna visual function, social function, mental health, role difficulties an dependency sub-scales inna NEI VFQ-25 questionnaire (P<0.05). General quality a life scores did significantly poor inna glaucoma as compared to cataract patients inna all domains a WHOQoL-BREF questionnaire including general well-being, physical health, psychological, social relationship an environment (P<0.05). Deh did have more burden a care inna glaucoma patients an dem families as compared to cataract patients inna Family Burden Interview Schedule questionnaire fi all sub-scales including financial burden, disruption of routine family activities, family leisure, family interaction, physical health and mental health ( P<0.05).
Conclusions: Di general quality a life was poor, an influence a limitation inna visual functioning pan health related quality a life, an burden a care was significantly higher inna glaucoma patients as compared to cataract patients.
