Objective: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) a di leading cause a blindness inna di elderly individuals inna developed countries. Di etiology an pathophysiology a AMD no fully andastan. Formation a drusen a di main pathological change inna AMD. Lipids mek up bout 40% a drusen volume, so possible relation between AMD an genes weh control lipid metabolism coulda provide novel insights inna AMD. Wi purpose was fi determine di genotype frequencies a LIPC rs10468017, rs493258 an LPL rs126789919 inna patients wid AMD inna Lithuanian population. Methods: Di study did enroll 279 patients wid early AMD, 256 patients wid exudative AMD, an 829 healthy controls (reference group). Di genotyping did a gwaan wid di RT-PCR. Results: LIPC rs10468017 polymorphism was associated wid a decreased risk a early an exudative AMD, while LPL rs126789919 polymorphism was associated wid a decreased risk a exudative AMD an LIPC rs493258 was only associated wid a decreased risk a early AMD. Conclusion: Di study shuo seh LIPC rs10468017, rs493258 an LPL rs126789919 gene polymorphisms maita have a protective role inna AMD development.
